Chapter 10 Adventurers' Guild
Chapter 10 Adventurers' Guild
In the Adventurers' Guild's hall, the mage Mana sat at a long table in the inner entertainment area. Her party hadn't received any big orders lately, and she had just done her daily lottery at the guild leader's place, winning 15 copper coins, just enough for dinner.
Under the table, Balin, a dwarf in the same team, complained, "Despite the goblins ravaging outside, there are fewer missions."
"It's precisely because the goblins are rampant that there are fewer quests. They've blocked the paths of merchants and pilgrims, so the lords and the church will definitely take action. Besides..."
Another lizardman in the same group, Ragon, pointed to the large number of adventurers in front of the quest board outside.
"There were more additional missions added later, but also a lot of hyenas from other places came over, which actually reduced the mission rewards."
The dwarves and lizardmen complained about the guild's recent policies. Mana didn't want to respond, so she propped her cheek up and listlessly stroked the staff on the table, her eyes fixed on the guild's gate.
Every time someone comes in, the parrot at the door will squawk "Welcome!"
After watching for a while, she realized that all the people who came in were adventurers. She sighed, rested her chest on the edge of the table, and rubbed her shoulders.
Seeing a dart on the table, Mana picked it up, pressed the end of the dart into her chest, and released it, launching it outwards with the kinetic energy of the rebound.
"oh!"
The dart hit the bottom edge of the target three meters away.
"Look, I hit the target with my dart!" The mage sat up straight instantly and said to his companions with his back to him.
The lizardman and dwarf, who were still staring at the entrance of the hall, turned around. In front of them, the mage pressed the dart into his chest, and the dart flew out again.
This time, the shot missed.
"Hoo~" the lizardman Ragon hissed.
Mana clicked her tongue: "I just used my breasts to launch it, and it hit."
"You threw it with your hand, didn't you?"
"fart!"
Mana blushed, took another dart, pressed it into her chest and threw it, but still missed the target.
Ragon scoffed: "Look."
"Tch, get lost, believe it or not."
Mana got into a contest, launching darts one after another. Balin, who couldn't see if anyone was coming in through the door and could only see other people's knees, decided to help pick up the darts on the ground and jump up to put them back on the table.
The other adventurers, who also had nothing to do, noticed the argument on Mana's side and strolled over, crossing their arms to watch her play with darts to pass the time.
At first, everyone around her came with some kind of lewd idea, but as they watched, they unconsciously began to seriously look forward to seeing if Mana could hit the bullseye.
"Why!"
"Eh~"
"Hey, mage, raise your angle a little higher, press a little deeper, this time you'll hit the target!"
"Eh~"
Each exclamation and sigh drew more bored eyes to look over.
People with nothing to do came over to join in the fun and chat with other adventurers.
In the crowd, an old adventurer with a weathered face chatted with his teammates: "Have you heard? An elf came into the city today."
"An elf? Today? Ugh~ This doesn't work either?" Mana slapped her chest in frustration, turning to look at the old adventurer. "What does he look like? Is he like the legends, elegant and aloof?"
"I'd like to meet them. Elves are all aloof and beautiful, right? Otherwise, so many painters wouldn't like to paint elves and goblins. Isn't it all about creating a contrast?" the lizardman interjected jokingly.
"Can't you men just stop talking about those things?" Mana puffed out her cheeks.
"What we see, the artists at most have their works confiscated and are fined a little money. But what you're seeing, the artists have already gone to hell to paint for the goddess of the underworld. Don't pretend to be innocent," the lizardman retorted.
"I just like watching it. So what if I like to eat strong-flavored food when I'm polishing my staff? At least I've never talked about it every day!"
"Bitch, go play your darts."
"Who are you calling a virgin? You think you can fight me?"
the other side.
The dwarf Balin was used to his companions arguing. He patted the old adventurer's leg and said, "Since you're an elf, you should have some manners."
"I think she's quite girlish, even a bit childish. I heard she sat on the ground in the street, crying and calling for her mother."
"That's hilarious, so this is what real elves are like."
"Not really. I met an elf more than ten years ago. She was very gentle and dignified, kind to everyone, and an excellent archer." The old adventurer recalled with his arms crossed. "But she was a lone wolf. I haven't seen her since. She probably went back to the elven settlement. I remember she had a daughter."
"Oh~ an elven wife? So, what's this new elf doing here? Elves have been isolated from the world for hundreds of years, why are they starting to come out more often lately?"
"Who knows? But she seems pretty strong; you can tell from the muscle definition in her thighs and arms that she trains regularly."
"Put the elf aside for now, what's this blocky guy you mentioned?"
"It is said that his whole body is like a stack of building blocks, and it is also said that as soon as he entered the city, he used some kind of magic to throw a father and daughter down from the sky."
"The man is dead?" The dwarf Balin frowned.
"No, I heard she's perfectly fine."
"Looks like he's trying to show off his magic to grab attention. Hopefully, that blocky mage won't get involved with us." Balin felt a deep disgust for the blocky man, who was actually using the lives of the townspeople to flaunt his levitation magic.
On the other side, Mana and the lizardman had already started fighting.
"Hey, mage, lizardman, stop flirting. I've placed a bet, so you'd better hit the bullseye." The old adventurer bent down and patted Balin on the shoulder.
Mana's attention was drawn back: "Tch, old man, give me a share if you win."
"I'll give you ten percent."
"Deal. Get lost, you green-skinned lizard, don't interfere with my serious business."
The lizardman raised his hands and stepped back.
"Go! Go! Go!" Someone started it, and the adventurers watching in the hall cheered in unison, igniting the atmosphere.
Mana looked around and saw that the faces, whether familiar or unfamiliar, were filled with fervent anticipation. She felt a surge of heat rush from her tailbone to the top of her head.
Several female adventurers gathered around to massage Mana's shoulders and even helped adjust the launcher.
A bard jumped onto the table and improvised a commentary.
"Everyone!" Mana was so moved she almost cried.
She couldn't let everyone down, so she pressed the last dart into the thickest part of her chest and adjusted the angle.
All eyes were focused on that little dart.
Go on!
Mana released her grip, and the dart flew straight forward.
Thud!
Right in the bull's eye.
silence.
Immediately following was a deafening roar of cheers. "Whoa whoa whoa!"
Whistles, stomping, and loud banging on the table blended together.
The female adventurer who had just massaged Mana's shoulders was now flitting through the crowd, hugging everyone she saw, as if she had witnessed something extraordinary.
Even a petite girl holding a summoning staff in the corner received a warm hug.
"Um... I can't breathe..."
"Oh, sorry~ hehe~" The female adventurer patted her waist and casually slipped the small pouch from the girl's waist into her pocket.
Just as the noise reached its peak, the parrot on the lintel of the union's gate suddenly started squawking.
Welcome!
Welcome!
Welcome!
"Welcome...feed the receptionist, someone's playing with your bird!"
The noise was cut off, and everyone looked in unison at the hall door that had been opened and closed repeatedly.
A blocky human and an elf walked in.
The blocky man's head slowly turned, and then a smiley face bubble appeared above his head: "This is the Adventurers' Guild added in the new version. The architectural design is not bad."
