On this day, sunlight filtered through the dappled leaves, casting a golden glow on the ground. A gentle breeze brought the coolness of early autumn. Several young women gathered in the courtyard, enthusiastically discussing the birthday gift they would give to Qin Yaoyao. Meanwhile, inside the Duke's mansion, a flurry of activity unfolded as servants bustled about, meticulously preparing for the upcoming grand feast.
As the first rays of sunlight streamed through the window in the early morning, Qin Yaoyao had already gotten up and finished washing and dressing. She wore a light pink silk dress with exquisite floral embroidery on the hem, and a white ribbon tied around her waist, which made her figure appear even more graceful and charming. After getting ready, Qin Yaoyao walked lightly towards the courtyard where her mother was.
Upon arriving at her mother's residence, Qin Yaoyao found Fan Xinwan sitting upright at the table, carefully perusing an ancient book. Hearing footsteps, she looked up and saw Qin Yaoyao entering the room, a loving smile immediately spreading across her face.
"Yaoyao's here! Come sit here." Fan Xinwan put down the book in her hand and waved to Qin Yaoyao.
Qin Yaoyao quickly walked to her mother's side and sat down, then affectionately hugged Fan Xinwan's arm and said in a coquettish tone, "Mom! My birthday is in just one month. What do you think I should do to celebrate it?"
Fan Xinwan looked tenderly at her youngest daughter in her arms and asked with a smile, "Yaoyao, since you asked, you must already have an idea, right? Tell your mother about it."
Qin Yaoyao blinked her bright, lively eyes and said sweetly, "Mom, I don't want to have a big birthday banquet like in previous years. I just want to spend it simply with my friends, like Sister Ying. Is that alright?"
Fan Xinwan nodded in agreement after hearing this: "Of course, as long as Yaoyao is happy. But, have you all made plans?"
Qin Yaoyao quickly nodded and replied, "Yes, we made plans a few days ago."
Upon seeing this, Fan Xinwan couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Haha, so you came all this way to have breakfast with me today just for this!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Yaoyao stuck out her tongue somewhat embarrassedly and quickly said in a flattering tone, "Oh, how could that be! I genuinely wanted to come and keep Mother company, but I just happened to think about her birthday and mentioned it casually!" After saying that, she playfully made a face at Fan Xinwan.
Fan Xinwan smiled gently, reaching out to softly pinch her daughter's rosy cheeks, her eyes filled with doting affection. She teased, "Oh my, my little darling, does the Prince want to take you out to play?" Qin Yaoyao's pretty face blossomed into a radiant smile. She nodded happily, like a lively little bird, and replied sweetly, "Yes, Mother, you guessed right! The Prince said he'd take me to his mountain villa. But he's worried that just the two of us wouldn't be lively enough, so he specially invited Third Princess Ying and Sister Shen to come and keep me company." Hearing this, Fan Xinwan couldn't help but smile as well, saying softly, "That's wonderful! You young people together will surely have more fun and enjoy yourselves more." Qin Yaoyao nodded excitedly, like a chick pecking at rice, obediently responding.
