Chapter 74 Developing a Training Plan
Chapter 74 Developing a Training Plan
"Is everyone here? Let's begin," President Adrian said, looking at us gathered together.
Today will be the first training session with the archery club, and all the members have gathered here.
Of course, participation in the training is not mandatory, but considering the club's budget and the number of members, everyone is naturally eager to come.
After all, even a few small suggestions from these senior students can be very helpful for those who are looking to improve.
'Well, it's mostly because of the excitement of the first day; nothing else really matters,' I thought to myself, because from the first day onward, the new students will gradually drop out one by one.
"Today is our first training session, and I think everyone should be ready," President Adrian began, his voice carrying the calm confidence of experience. His sharp gaze swept over everyone present, making each member feel like the only one being noticed.
“As you know, archery is a discipline that demands precision, focus, and dedication. It’s not just about your strength, but about how you control your body and mind,” he continued. “Today, we’ll start with the basics. Although I know that everyone here has some experience with archery, what we teach in class is just the posture from the textbook.”
President Adrian skillfully picked up the bow and arrow, demonstrating the correct posture and technique.
"In actual combat, everything is constantly changing. No matter how talented you are, or how many times you practice basic archery skills, there will always be times when you can't use the perfect posture. Here, it's important to know that as an archer, you need to constantly adjust your posture according to the position and situation."
Swoosh
His bow-drawing motion was fluid and elegant, and with a slight "hum," he released the arrow.
Bang
The arrow flew straight toward the target and hit the bullseye accurately.
"These are things you've heard from hunters, or from hunters online. Most of you probably think that textbook examples and theories are useless in practice."
President Adrian continued, "But let me tell you, understanding the theory and mastering the basics will make it easier for you to adapt to any situation. Just like having a solid foundation, you can build your skills on top of that."
Judging from his words and the reactions of the community members, I could tell that Adrian was very well-suited to be a leader. His voice was full of authority, and when you listened to him speak, you felt that he was stating a key point.
The freshmen's reactions demonstrated this. The club members all nodded, as if they realized that theory and practice were not contradictory, but rather complementary.
'If someone without prestige said these things, they would probably be laughed at.'
They are eager to learn because of momentary excitement and enthusiasm, but this feeling will not last long.
“Now, let’s begin today’s training.” President Adrian picked up his bow again. “I will demonstrate my personal stance, which I have developed over the years, as well as the stances from the textbooks. I expect each of you to derive your own variations based on your body type and comfort level. This will be your first task as members of the archery club. I hope you can create your own stances and demonstrate their advantages to me through reports.”
These words shocked the new members.
"what?"
How can we create our own poses?
"Does he really expect us to do this kind of thing?"
'Where has your excitement gone?'
Clearly, they hadn't anticipated such a task on the first day. This task was indeed no easy feat; even in a game, it would take an entire semester or even a year, depending on the character's affinity.
However, this group is not a charity. As they say, they hope their members can contribute to the field of archery, and this is one way to do it. By showcasing different ideas, everyone can contribute to the field.
Of course, this doesn't mean that this is the only method. You can also ask senior students for advice; you can basically learn from them.
Next, he demonstrated his favorite standing posture, his body relaxed yet ready to move at any moment.
He carefully considered every move he made and encouraged members to focus on key elements of balance, precision, and flexibility.
'This explains why he was able to become the president.' His stance was almost perfectly adapted to his body, and his talent for archery was also evident.
"Now, I hope everyone will give it a try. Don't be afraid to experiment, find the way that works best for you, and ask your seniors for advice. I will go around looking for people who want to learn and give them some guidance."
After saying all that, everyone started practicing with the bow, and I was no exception.
As I began practicing with the compound bow, I couldn't help but notice the gazes of some students around me. Their looks were anything but friendly; in fact, they carried a hint of disdain.
"He's using a compound bow?" one student whispered to another, barely able to hide their laughter.
“Yes, I heard that kind of bow is for hunters who don’t know how to use a recurve bow,” another person chuckled softly.
"Isn't he the lowest-ranked student here? How come he needs that kind of 'wheelchair'?"
There are many classes in the college, so not everyone knows me. However, it seems that my reputation as the weakest student has spread.
However, I remained focused on the practice. Anyway, it wasn't anything new, so the training continued.
......
"Oh, Morse, you've arrived."
Just as I was immersed in training, I suddenly heard a voice I had been waiting for. It was Coach Joey.
“Coach Joey,” I replied, putting down my bow. By then, an hour had passed, and most of the freshmen had left the training field.
“Indeed, my judgment was correct.” He nodded with a smile. He was wearing casual clothes, with small clumps of dust and dirt on his sleeves, and a faint smell of burnt soil mixed with the stench of blood.
'He just came back from the underground city.'
It looks like a dungeon has appeared near the academy.
"Is there something you need?" I asked.
"Follow me." He gestured for me to follow, and I didn't waste any time, immediately following him.
He led me to a small door and looked into my eyes.
“I’ve been watching your training.”
Are you watching?
"Yes. For someone who has only recently started using a bow, you are progressing very quickly."
Swoosh
He scanned the bracelet, the door opened, and the scene before me reminded me of some science fiction movies on Earth.
The room was filled with lights, but the overall atmosphere was still dim. There were monitors and holograms displaying the surroundings. It looked like a shooting range, but something was different.
“What is this place? You must be thinking about this.” He said, walking toward a device. “Here,” he pointed to the shooting range, and continued, “I hope you will continue training here for a while.”
“I understand,” I replied. Judging from the display and the hologram, understanding the function of this place wasn't difficult. “You want to analyze my body, right?”
"Yes. When I was observing you, I saw that you already had your own ideas about the bow. But your body hasn't fully adapted to it yet."
He showed the body parts displayed on the screen and continued:
"Since you haven't fully developed certain muscles yet, I'd like you to use this room for a better analysis. Based on these results, I can provide you with a training method suitable for your body. What do you think?"
"I have no reason to refuse."
Since my awakening, I've been training relentlessly, but that doesn't mean my training is efficient. At the academy, you can consult professors about these issues, but my head teacher is Eleanor White, and I don't want to deal with that woman.
This was a great opportunity, which is one of the reasons I joined the archery club.
Unlike other weapons-related clubs, the archery club employs relatively modern training methods.
The Pistol Club is made up of stubborn people who prefer ancient training methods passed down from the first generation of hunters, and the Sword Club is the same.
This is mainly due to the figures representing each weapon. The Sword Emperor and the Gun Emperor both come from famous families, and their way of representing these weapons appears somewhat old-fashioned.
However, Yumiko is different. She has a completely new understanding of things, and she is also a magazine model.
That's why the archery club is sponsored by the current Archery Emperor and uses modern training methods, and this room is one of them. Of course, the academy also provides such rooms, but it requires students to have a high ranking, which I don't meet right now, and I won't qualify until the midterm exams.
Therefore, this has always been my goal, but honestly, I didn't expect things to move so quickly. I originally thought this would happen after I taught some arrogant freshmen a lesson, but now it seems that's unnecessary.
Coach Joey led me further into the room, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and excitement as I looked around. This modern facility seemed designed specifically for serious training and improvement.
“Let’s do some basic assessments first,” Coach Joey explained. “I want you to shoot a few arrows at those holographic targets.”
And so the training began, starting with stationary targets, then moving targets, then shooting arrows in the river, and even shooting at the ground...
"Great, your results will be out tomorrow. I'll send you your training plan after that," Coach Joey said after training.
"Ok."
"Then you can leave."
“Thank you for your help,” I replied, bowing my head.
Over the past week, I have felt that I have received a lot of help from others, and indeed, this is not a bad feeling.
“It’s my duty.” Coach Joey waved his hand, and I left the place shortly afterward, heading towards my room.
To be honest, today's training wasn't bad. I was able to test my archery skills in a dynamic and challenging environment, but that's not all. I also received feedback from Coach Joey, which was very helpful.
He gave me some advice that I had overlooked during training, such as how to control my mana when drawing the bow, how to increase the arrow's speed and reduce wind resistance by adding mana to the arrow tip, and so on.
My reaction time and adaptability are good, but that's only in my mind. I need to work on my body more, and I'm looking forward to the professional training plan Coach Joey promised to provide.
Now, only this one thing remains.
Ding
Just as I was walking towards the room, I heard my watch beep.
"Sure enough, they didn't refuse."
Looking at the message, I thought to myself.
