Chapter 4 Food
Chapter 4 Food
Chiriel landed heavily on the protruding platform in front of the cave. The two streams of white breath that spewed from her nostrils were ignited by the high temperature inside her body, resembling two swirling and dancing tongues of fire, leaving fleeting scorching trails in the air.
Between her massive claws, she held firmly a huge wild boar. Judging from its protruding, thick tusks and the bristles on its back that stood up like steel needles, it was clearly a fierce boar, weighing an estimated ton.
This was undoubtedly the kind of ferocious beast that dared to charge head-on into a tiger, but at this moment its spine had been broken, and warm blood was gushing from the corner of its mouth, meandering across the platform and forming fine streams of blood.
The thick, pungent smell of blood wafted into the cave with the wind, instantly whetting Thor's appetite. He jerked his head up, a clear desire flashing in his eyes.
Kalp and Sistana, who were already somewhat malnourished, couldn't help but have their eyes gleam with greed. Without thinking, they rushed out of the platform.
However, instead of Daenerys's loving care, they were met with merciless beatings.
With a sudden sweep of its large wings, Chiliel sent the two fledgling dragons flying like a solid city wall, crashing heavily to the ground.
Immediately afterwards, she let out a warning roar, showing no intention of sharing the prey, and lowered her head to tear at the wild boar with large bites.
Looking at the two fledglings that had fallen to the ground, Thor couldn't help but reveal a faint hint of mockery in his eyes.
But then he thought of his current situation, which didn't seem much better, and that hint of mockery instantly turned into dejection, and he lowered his eyes listlessly.
The three baby dragons watched longingly as their mother feasted, waiting until she was full, licked the blood from her lips, and slowly crawled into the cave to lie down before cautiously rushing toward the remains of her prey on the ground.
Relatively speaking, the strong and robust Thor took the lead and snatched the piece of remains with the most remaining flesh.
Seeing that Sistana still wanted to go forward and fight for it, he turned around without hesitation and lashed her to the ground with his tail.
This was the first time Thor had ever eaten real, normal food since he was born, apart from those eggshell fragments.
His stomach was already rumbling with hunger, and at this moment he didn't care whether raw meat was disgusting or not; he just wanted to fill his stomach as soon as possible.
He quickly swallowed the small amount of meat he had been eating, and even the hard bones were crushed by his sharp, hard dragon teeth and swallowed in large gulps.
But these leftovers were clearly far from enough to satisfy Sol's voracious appetite.
Despite their small size, the young dragons possess a digestive system that is like a high-temperature furnace, allowing them to digest food as they eat, quickly converting the food they consume into the energy their bodies need.
In addition, its excellent elasticity allows it to hold a large amount of food at once, giving it a somewhat otherworldly feel.
…………
Without hesitation, Thor turned his gaze to his younger brother and sister. Unfortunately, these two baby dragons had learned their lesson from the eggshell and had now become wiser.
They all devoured the food in their paws like starving ghosts, eating even faster than Thor, and by now there was nothing left.
Undeterred, Thor continued rummaging through the ground for the wild boar's hides and scraps, hoping to find something else to eat.
The next instant, a long, narrow wooden pole caught his attention.
He picked it up with his paw and saw that one end of the wooden pole was inlaid with a shiny black arrowhead.
This is an arrow, but it is several times larger than the heavy arrows Thor had seen in his previous life when he was human.
One can't help but wonder, what kind of creature shot this arrow, and why did it appear on the wild boar that the Dragon Mother brought back?
As they pondered, a furious growl from the Dragon Mother suddenly echoed from the cave.
"You three idiots! Clean up the mess after you're done eating. I don't want to wake up to find even a crumb!"
Thor, who was searching through the wreckage, suddenly froze. He turned to look at Sistana and Calp and roared.
"Did you hear me? You two idiots! Clean up the floor right now!"
This action immediately provoked the dissatisfaction of the other two baby dragons, who roared in protest.
"Damn Thor! You have no right to order me around!"
"Mom clearly said to clean all three together, why are you pushing all the responsibility onto us!"
Thor grinned, revealing sharp fangs, and sneered. He raised one of his front paws, clenched it into a fist, shook it forcefully, and said.
"You dare disobey your elder brother's orders? It seems you've all lacked proper upbringing."
Just as the three baby dragons were about to start fighting, Chiriel, who was lying in the cave, impatiently raised her head and growled in a low voice.
"If I hear you yelling and disturbing my sleep again, I'll twist your heads off."
Upon hearing this, the three baby dragons immediately lowered their heads dejectedly, no longer daring to utter a sound, and obediently began to clean the ground.
This statement is by no means a mere threat; given the Red Dragon's fiery temper, it wouldn't be surprising if he did something drastic.
Cleaning up the bits of meat and scraps scattered all over the floor was not easy, and they didn't know where to clean them up either.
However, the Red Dragons naturally have their own unique methods.
They quickly gathered some dry branches from near the cave and piled them on top of the debris. Then, the three baby dragons raised their heads, briefly prepared themselves, and then opened their mouths to spew forth their breath.
Although the baby dragon's breath organs are not yet fully developed, they are more than enough to ignite wood.
Three fire snakes, one large and two small, accompanied by wisps of rising black smoke, spewed from the mouths of the three fledgling dragons, igniting the dry branches piled on the ground.
As the flames rise, the remaining debris, fragments, and bloodstains on the ground are charred and carbonized under the intense heat, eventually mixing with the embers and leaving no trace.
…………
"Damn it! That breath made me even hungrier."
"I really want to eat a whole wild boar! A whole one!"
Their innate fire resistance meant that Sistana and Kalp didn't need to stay away from the flames. Instead, they lay down right next to the fire, letting the leaping flames lick their scales while grumbling incessantly.
Thor ignored them, found a secluded corner and lay down, closing his eyes as if to rest, but in reality he was manipulating the giant turntable in his mind.
Thanks to the "selfless contributions" of Sistana and Kalp during this period, the balance of mental essence has finally increased to 1.52, which is enough to make the simplest extraction.
When a wisp of spiritual essence transforms into starlight and is cast into the giant turntable, the outermost ring of the turntable immediately begins to spin with a "rumbling" sound, eventually coming to a steady stop on a simple diamond pattern.
Thor focused his attention on the past, and more information appeared: a small piece of dragon crystal, whether to extract it, yes/no.
"Can we not collect it immediately?"
Thor had a sudden thought, and considering that the current environment was not safe, he naturally chose "no".
He began to recall information about dragon crystals in his mind.
This is a product of highly concentrated ley line energy. In the world of Monster Hunter, it is widely found in the Elder's Recess and is considered a rather precious mineral.
However, it's not entirely accurate to say it's incredibly precious. Dragon crystals are piled up like mountains throughout the Elder's Recess, and are found everywhere, almost as plentiful as roadside stones.
However, upon seeing the extraction result, Thor still squinted his eyes in delight.
The digestive system of true dragons allows them to digest almost all ordinary substances in the world. Although flesh and blood are a high-quality food for red dragons, they are far from the best.
Only those gems and metals imbued with magic are the ideal food for true dragons.
Dragon crystals, rich in energy, undoubtedly belong to this category.
