Chapter 5, He picked her up horizontally.
Chapter 5, He picked her up horizontally.
"Secretary Jiang, what a coincidence! We meet again! Today is the Huo Group's new product launch, and I was wondering who would pick us up. I didn't expect Brother Sili to arrange it for you."
If Shang Chao hadn't personally witnessed this last night, and heard Li Xueqian's sweet voice asking Huo Sili, "Brother Sili, won't your wife be angry that you're out with me like this?"
At this moment, looking at Li Xueqian's obedient, sweet, sensible, and polite appearance, Jiang Qin might really think that Li Xueqian is a simple-minded girl who speaks her mind.
Unfortunately, the reality is that she personally overheard Li Xueqian and Huo Sili's interaction last night and knows Li Xueqian's character clearly.
Therefore, how could Jiang Qin not understand the meaning behind Li Xueqian's words? She was clearly trying to stab her in the heart.
However, Jiang Qin didn't care why Li Xueqian hurt her feelings or whether she already knew about her secret marriage with Huo Sili—private matters are private matters, and public matters are public matters; Jiang Qin had set this rule for herself since she started working.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Qin's smile remained unchanged. She nodded slightly to Li Xueqian, extending an invitation, demonstrating her professionalism.
"What a coincidence, Miss Li. It's my pleasure to welcome you. Please come in."
That perfectly timed smile, that generous and gentle gaze without any stage fright, that air of poise and refinement.
Even though she didn't say anything hurtful in response, Li Xueqian felt a surge of anger in her heart, feeling that she had been outdone by Jiang Qin.
She opened her mouth as if to say something to turn the tables, but Jiang Qin smiled and gestured to her, "Miss Li, please come this way."
After saying that, he turned around and led the way generously, occasionally glancing back with a smile. Several Huo Group employees followed with professional smiles.
Li Xueqian pursed her lips, but seeing this, she ultimately didn't say anything.
Soon, the group arrived at the lounge. Jiang Qin stopped at the door and looked back with a smile.
He looked at Li Xueqian and said, "Ms. Li, Mr. Liu from the advertising department, who you were discussing cooperation with, is currently in a morning meeting. He should be here in about fifteen minutes. Please rest and wait here. There is tea and snacks inside, which have just been prepared."
"That's settled then. We'll get back to work now. If you need anything, please have someone contact me."
Her tone and expression were impeccable. Li Xueqian was still annoyed by what had just happened, but she could only smile and thank her, saying, "Okay, thank you, Secretary Jiang."
"You're welcome." Jiang Qin smiled, watched them enter the house, and was about to close the door and leave.
Suddenly, a voice came from inside, "Hey, wait a minute, Secretary Jiang!"
Jiang Qin and the others outside the door paused, then Jiang Qin pushed the door open again. "What's wrong, Miss Li?"
Li Xueqian gestured for her to look at the tea on the coffee table, and said in a soft, pitiful voice, "I haven't been sleeping well since I just returned to China, and I don't like drinking tea. Could you please trouble Secretary Jiang to get me a pot of plain water? I'm a little thirsty."
Jiang Qin glanced at the table, paused for a moment, but still smiled, "Of course, no problem, please wait a moment."
Li Xueqian smiled and said, "Okay."
As the door closed, Jiang Qin said to Lin Xiaoyu, "Go to the tea room and get a stainless steel kettle, then go to the water dispenser and fill it with temperature-controlled drinking water, around 40°C, just the right temperature to drink."
Lin Xiaoyu is currently an intern in the Huo Group's secretariat. After joining the Huo Group, she was personally mentored by Jiang Qin and trusted Jiang Qin a lot. Upon hearing this, she didn't think much and immediately agreed to do so.
The rest of the people present were all veteran employees. Those who could work at Huo's headquarters were certainly not naive or innocent. After hearing what Li Xueqian said, they each had their own thoughts, but they also knew what they should and shouldn't ask.
After all, Jiang Qin was Huo Sili's secretary, and Huo Sili was the head of the entire Huo Group.
A moment later, Jiang Qin, holding a kettle, appeared at the entrance of the downstairs lounge with Lin Xiaoyu.
The door was ajar. After a knock, Li Xueqian's voice came through, "Secretary Jiang? Please come in."
Upon entering, Jiang Qin and Lin Xiaoyu witnessed a bustling scene.
Li Xueqian's assistants included those holding mirrors, those taking photos of her, those with makeup brushes as if they were ready to change her makeup at any time, and those doing her hair.
They seem busy, but it's more like they don't know what they're busy with.
However, Jiang Qin was not surprised at all, because reality soon proved her guess to be true.
Li Xueqian asked her to pour her a glass of water and hand it to her.
Just as she was about to take it, the person taking the photo suddenly spoke to Li Xueqian, and as expected, she slapped the glass away.
The cup crashed towards her, the warm water inside wetting her clothes. *Plop!*
Jiang Qin instinctively stepped back, and the glass shattered in front of her feet, the shards blooming into flowers.
"Oh dear!" Li Xueqian cried out in alarm, her voice filled with guilt.
"I'm so sorry, Secretary Jiang, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. Are you alright? Are you okay?"
Lin Xiaoyu was stunned and stood there for a while, then suddenly seemed to understand something.
Jiang Qin was glad she had a brain; otherwise, she would have called 120 by now.
She glanced at herself and saw that the water had been splashed almost precisely on her face and body, especially a large area on her chest, which was completely soaked.
If it were freshly boiled water, she couldn't even imagine what the scene would be like now.
However, Jiang Qin suddenly realized that this was Huo Sili's white moonlight.
That's really not good; such despicable and low-class tactics.
"I'm fine," Jiang Qin said.
However, as soon as she finished speaking, she felt a faint stinging pain in her ankle.
"Sister Qin, your ankle is bleeding from a cut on the glass!" Lin Xiaoyu's voice rang out from beside her.
Jiang Qin looked down and saw that there were obvious beads of blood on her ankle. She frowned.
Beside her, a hint of pleasure flashed in Li Xueqian's eyes. Just as she was about to continue her performance, suddenly, footsteps sounded in the corridor, as if several people were coming.
Hearing something familiar, Jiang Qin was slightly surprised and looked towards the door.
The first person I saw was Huo Sili, followed by Mr. Liu from the advertising department and several people from his department.
At this moment, Li Xueqian also noticed Huo Sili appearing at the door. Her eyes lit up with joy, "Brother Sili!"
The tone was clearly intimate, as if they were very familiar with each other.
However, the leading man did not react. Instead, his gaze swept past Jiang Qin, then moved down to the woman's pale ankle where blood was beading, and his pupils darkened.
Feeling ignored, Li Xueqian's smile faltered. Suddenly, she saw Huo Sili looking at her again, his eyes still gentle. He hummed in response and asked, "Are you alright?"
Li Xueqian's eyes lit up, and she was immediately flattered. Her smile was so sweet it was almost cloying. "No, I'm not hurt!"
He glanced at Jiang Qin, then looked apologetic and said to Huo Sili, "It's all my fault. I didn't hold the cup properly and Secretary Jiang got hurt."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Qin found it extremely funny. Suddenly, she noticed that Huo Sili was looking at her. She paused slightly and looked back at Huo Sili.
Huo Sili shifted his gaze to what was behind him. "Mr. Liu, please take Miss Li and the others to the conference room to discuss cooperation."
After the group left and entered the conference room at the end of the corridor, Huo Sili looked at Lin Xiaoyu and asked, "What are you standing there for? Nothing to do?"
"Xiao Lin, go to my office and organize the files in the bookcase," Jiang Qin said, trying to smooth things over.
After everyone left, Huo Sili locked the door from the inside. Jiang Qin glanced at the broken glass on the ground and was about to move when Huo Sili spoke up.
"Don't move, there's glass behind you too."
Jiang Qin stopped, turned around and looked down. Suddenly, her head bumped into Huo Sili's chest as he walked over quickly.
Feeling a slight pain, Jiang Qin frowned, feeling the ambiguous distance between them. She subconsciously straightened her head to move further away from him.
Huo Sili looked down at the woman in front of him, but at the same time bent down and picked Jiang Qin up in his arms.
