Chapter 121 Mysterious Land and Unpredictable Future
Chapter 121 Mysterious Land and Unpredictable Future
Having broken free from the chilling suction, everyone landed in this unfamiliar land, their faces filled with bewilderment and wariness. The woman in black robes was the first to regain her footing. She looked around and saw clouds swirling around her like veils, exuding a mysterious and unpredictable aura. The ground beneath her feet emitted a strange light, its glow flickering as if it had its own pulse, each flash seeming to tell of the secrets hidden within this land.
"This place is strange, everyone be careful," the woman in black said in a low voice, unconsciously tightening her grip on her sword. She felt a vague unease; this seemingly peaceful environment might be hiding dangers everywhere. The crystal ball had already caused them a lot of trouble, and who knew what kind of dangers awaited them in this new place.
The man in white also wore a solemn expression. He gently stroked his jade flute, his gaze piercing through the layers of mist, trying to make out the blurry outline of a building in the distance. "That building might be the key; perhaps the key to the divine artifact is there. But the journey ahead won't be peaceful," he thought to himself, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He dared not let his guard down, for in this completely unknown environment, any carelessness could lead to annihilation.
Ling'er clutched the book tightly, her big eyes filled with terror. She cautiously approached the man in white, tugging at his sleeve, and whispered, "Brother, I'm so scared. This place feels even more terrifying than the previous passage." Her body trembled slightly. She longed to leave this place as soon as possible, but she knew clearly that there was no way back. She could only grit her teeth and follow everyone forward.
The old man in the gray robe, leaning on his cane, slowly turned around in place, surveying his surroundings with his weathered eyes. "I've traveled all over the country for so many years, but I've never seen such a strange place. But since we're here, let's make the best of it and explore it slowly." Although he said this, he was also unsure of himself, but he didn't want to cause too much panic among the group.
After discussing it, the group decided to head towards the distant outline of the building. The surroundings were eerily quiet, with only their footsteps echoing in the open space. Occasionally, a gentle breeze would stir, causing the mist to drift and reveal strangely shaped stones. These stones seemed to bear ancient runes, which none of them could decipher, and they dared not stop to study them, fearing they might delay their journey or encounter some unforeseen event.
As they walked, a wide river suddenly appeared ahead. The water shimmered with a faint blue light, as if it were not ordinary water, but flowed with some mysterious power. The woman in black robes picked up a pebble and threw it into the river. The moment the pebble hit the water, it stirred up a patch of faint blue light, which spread along the water's flow like a shimmering ribbon of light.
"This river looks dangerous, how are we going to cross it?" Ling'er asked, her brows furrowed with worry.
After a moment's thought, the man in white said, "I'll try to use my spiritual power to form a bridge and see if I can cross." With that, he began to play his jade flute, and spiritual power slowly flowed out with the music, gradually condensing into a bridge emitting a faint glow on the river's surface. The group carefully stepped onto the bridge, walking step by step towards the other side. But just as they reached the center of the bridge, the river suddenly surged with enormous waves, and jets of water, like ferocious beasts, crashed towards them.
"Not good! Hold on!" the woman in black shouted, slashing her sword at the oncoming wave. The spiritual energy on her sword collided with the water, splashing countless droplets. The man in white quickened the rhythm of his playing, continuously strengthening the spiritual energy bridge. The old man in gray struck the bridge surface with his cane, streams of spiritual energy emanating from the tip of the cane, protecting everyone. Ling'er, terrified, closed her eyes tightly, muttering prayers for safety.
After a difficult struggle, everyone finally crossed the river safely. Once ashore, they were all panting and still shaken.
"We've only gone this far, and it's already so dangerous. Who knows what we'll encounter next?" The woman in black wiped the sweat from her forehead and said helplessly.
As they continued forward, the outline of the building became clearer, but just then, the surrounding clouds suddenly churned violently, and a group of figures dressed in strange clothes with indistinct faces emerged from them. They wielded various bizarre weapons, exuding a cold aura, and slowly surrounded the group.
"They've come with ill intentions! Everyone, prepare for battle!" the gray-robed old man shouted, slamming his cane heavily on the ground as he assumed a defensive stance.
The woman in black robes' eyes sharpened, and she charged forward first, her sword flashing with fierce sword energy as she slashed at the figures. The man in white robes was not to be outdone; the melodies played on his jade flute transformed into blades of spiritual energy, flying towards the enemy. But those figures were extremely difficult to deal with; after being hit, they only swayed slightly before continuing to advance towards the group.
Ling'er anxiously flipped through the scrolls, hoping to find a solution. Suddenly, she exclaimed, "The scrolls say that these are like puppets controlled by a mysterious force. We need to find the source of their control to break the spell!"
Upon hearing this, the group fought off the puppets' attacks while searching for the so-called source of control. However, the puppets multiplied and their attacks grew increasingly fierce, gradually overwhelming the group, and each person sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Just when everyone was in dire straits, the man in white suddenly discovered a bead emitting an eerie light on a boulder not far away. The actions of the puppets seemed to be related to this bead in some way.
"Perhaps that's the source of the manipulation. I'll try to destroy it!" The man in white gritted his teeth and charged toward the boulder regardless of the danger.
Upon seeing this, the woman in black robes hurriedly shouted, "Be careful!" At the same time, she used all her strength to block the puppet that was trying to stop the man in white.
The man in white approached the boulder, raised his jade flute, channeled all his spiritual power, and hurled it fiercely at the bead. The bead flashed violently upon impact, and the puppets instantly ceased their attack, collapsing to the ground as if lifeless.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, but before they could recover, a muffled rumbling sound suddenly came from behind the boulder, as if something enormous was slowly awakening.
"What's going on now?" Ling'er asked, her eyes wide with fear.
Everyone tensed up again, peering behind the boulder. A gigantic figure loomed in the darkness, emanating a chilling aura. What kind of monster was it? Could they escape danger once more? Everything remained uncertain, awaiting their arrival…
