Chapter 57: Got Nothing
Chapter 57: Got Nothing
Old Mrs. Zhou pointed at Wen Muchuan in a fit of rage, "Look at the good-for-nothing child you and that slut gave birth to! He's completely lawless!"
As soon as she said this, everyone in the room stared at her intently, and Old Zhou felt a chilly wind blowing around her.
Xie He stepped forward, took off his own shoe, and shoved it into her mouth. "You old hag, nothing but a dog's mouth can produce ivory. Get out of here!"
I dare say that if her precious daughter doesn't kick her shit out, it's a sign that she's holding on tight!
Old Mrs. Zhou felt the shoe poking her throat, and tears streamed down her face from the discomfort. She looked at Wen Muchuan stammeringly for help, but he looked up at the sky and pretended not to see her.
She rolled her eyes in anger. When they reached the courtyard gate, Wen Luozhi kindly opened the door for Xie He, saying, "Mother, quickly throw this old woman out."
"Oh, don't forget to take the shoes out first," she added.
The shoe Old Zhou mentioned was one she had recently bought for Xie He; it would be a shame to lose it.
"Mother knows!" Xie He changed her expression quickly when facing Wen Luozhi, immediately putting on a loving mother's smile and speaking gently to her.
Wen Dazhuang and the others were still outside. When they saw Old Zhou being thrown out, they didn't care whether she was hurt or not, but instead swarmed around her.
"How's it going, Mother? Did Wen Lao Er give you the shop?"
Wen Zhuzi jumped in front of Old Zhou to help her up, but Old Zhou glared at him, spat out the mud in her mouth, and cursed, "What a load of crap!"
Upon hearing this, Wen Zhuzi angrily released his grip, and Old Zhou, who had just stood up halfway, almost fell back down.
"Mother! The shop didn't give us the money, but at least they gave us the money!" Wen Dazhuang covered his hand and looked at his mother with expectant eyes. He couldn't let that wretched girl hurt his hand for nothing, could he?
Old Mrs. Zhou glared at him. "Give me what?! Can't you see I've been thrown out?!"
Everyone's expression changed, and Qian Zhaodi gave her a disdainful look before turning and leaving.
That old hag is useless; she can't even handle her own son!
Old Zhou looked at Wu Hong. Fortunately, her youngest daughter-in-law could still get some money from her parents' home, otherwise their whole family would really starve.
There's no money left at home, so we're just waiting for her to bring some back from her parents' home to keep us afloat.
"Ah Hong, give your mother the money you brought from your parents' home," Old Zhou said to her with a smile, her voice just like Xie He's when she spoke to Wen Luozhi.
Wu Hong, whose name was called, hid behind Wen Zhuzi and whispered, "Where would I get any money? They almost didn't make it back."
Old Zhou didn't hear what she said clearly, but Wen Zhuzi, who was in front of her, heard it all clearly.
He raised his foot and kicked Wu Hong in the thigh. "What are you doing back here with no money? The family has to support an idle person like you!"
Wu Hong immediately got angry. She was furious when she remembered that she had been kept there to work and not even got to eat because she went to get the money.
The pain from when that brat Wen Luozhi pinched her thigh is still there!
Now that Wen Zhuzi had laid a hand on her again, she couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed Wen Zhuzi's hair and wouldn't let go, scratching his face while angrily cursing, "Isn't it all your fault, you piece of trash!"
"If you hadn't gone out and been so promiscuous, you wouldn't have gotten that kind of sexually transmitted disease! We've spent all our savings on your treatment!"
"You still have the nerve to blame me?! Because of you, I can't have a son and everyone's laughing at me! Who can I complain to?!"
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Wu Hong started pinching the soft flesh on Wen Zhuzi's body, making him howl in pain.
"Mother! Quickly pull this crazy woman away from me!"
While dodging Wu Hong's hand, he pleaded for help from his mother.
Old Mrs. Zhou stepped forward and struck Wu Hong's hands several times with a stick, yelling, "Are you trying to die?! Why are you taking your anger out on my son?!"
Wu Hong stopped because of the pain in her hands. Old Zhou lifted Wen Zhuzi's clothes and found a red and swollen patch on his waist. She felt so sorry for him that she breathed a sigh of relief.
Wu Hong sneered and said mockingly, "This thing can't even give you a grandson, and only an old woman like you treats him like a treasure."
She snatched the stick from Old Zhou, angrily broke it in two, threw it forcefully on the ground, and strode away.
Old Mrs. Zhou was furious and wanted to chase after her and give her a good beating, but Wen Zhuzi was crying out in pain, so she could only anxiously rub the red and swollen area on his waist.
Wen Dazhuang kicked the courtyard gate, spat at the entrance, then covered his hand and left angrily.
Wen Zhuzi and Old Zhou helped each other walk home. When they reached the corner, Wen Zhuzi looked back at the courtyard wall and wondered when would be a good time to come.
He was determined to get his hands on the money!
Back at the old house, everyone collapsed in the main hall, waiting for Wen Pandi to serve them.
When Wen Youcai and Yang Xiu returned from their walk and saw them like this, they asked curiously, "Dad, Grandma, what's wrong with you?"
"What else could it be! Look at how badly that brat from the Wen family hurt my hand!"
He raised his hand and told Wen Youcai about what had happened at Wen Muchuan's house.
Wen Youcai was no good either; after hearing what he said, the couple's eyes gleamed with greed.
Wen Youcai thought, "How can there be such a good thing as getting neither a shop nor money? After all, I am the nephew of this Wen Lao Er!"
He'll go to the shop and make a scene tomorrow, and the money will be given to him obediently.
He explained his plan, and his whole family wholeheartedly supported his decision.
Since they've all been wronged today, it's good for them to vent their anger tomorrow.
Wen Pandi stood to the side with her head down, barely daring to breathe. She was extremely anxious but helpless.
These past two days, Da Ya and Er Ya have been secretly bringing her food. She knows that her second uncle's family are good people, and she has to think of a way to sneak out and tell them.
Wen Zhuzi was in so much pain that he kept asking Wen Pandi to apply medicine to his body and massage his shoulders and legs until he finally managed to fall asleep in the middle of the night.
Pandi went back to the woodshed where she slept and stayed there for a while. Only after making sure no one would get up in the middle of the night did she quietly slip out through a dog hole in the corner of the yard.
Wen Luozhi was lying in bed looking at the items in her system inventory when she heard a faint sound coming from the yard. She immediately became very alert.
After leaving the house, she tiptoed to the gate, still holding a dog-beating stick in her hand, while the little wolf stood behind her, its body protruding in a defensive posture.
She pressed herself against the courtyard gate, when a soft knock came from outside.
A nervous voice rang out, "Fourth brother, sixth brother, little cousin, are you home?"
"Knock knock knock," came a few more soft knocks on the door.
When Wen Luozhi heard Pandi's voice, she opened the courtyard gate, bent down, and looked at the dusty-faced little girl in front of her, asking, "What's wrong, Pandi? Is there something you need so late?"
Pandi looked up at Wen Luozhi, who seemed to be bathed in moonlight, and was somewhat stunned. However, she quickly recovered and said, "My eldest cousin is going to cause trouble in town tomorrow, so little cousin, you must be careful!"
After saying that, she hurriedly tried to leave, but Wen Luozhi grabbed her, stuffed a bag of fruit candies into her hand, and said with a smile, "Don't you know how powerful my little cousin is? She must have made Wen Youcai scream in pain!"
Wen Pandi put her hands behind her back. No, that's right! Even if her eldest cousin went to town, he would still get beaten up. After all, they all call her little cousin the little devil and say she's very fierce.
Besides, there are my fourth and sixth brothers, so I won't be bullied.
She felt she hadn't been of much help and lowered her head in disappointment.
