Chapter 202: Die Insects! Die! Part 2
Chapter 202: Die Insects! Die! Part 2
When the first one came descending from the skies, Sarah jumped, not to escape the creature, but to meet the insect head-on.
"Don’t underestimate me, you overdeveloped bee!" Sarah shouted, brandishing her sword and calling upon her skill. "Flash Thrasher!"
With her rapid slashes, Sarah unleashed her attacks against the bee, first tearing off its venomous stinger and then cutting vertically through the creature’s head, making the purple liquid from its body spray out from the wound. As Sarah placed her feet back on the ground, the dead bee fell lifelessly to the ground.
"Sarah, look up!!" Camula shouted to her.
Although Sarah had defeated one monster, two more were coming towards her, their stingers ready to pierce her. The Swordmaster positioned herself to dodge, but stopped as soon as she heard a bang.
"Bang! Bang!" Two shots in a row struck the two bees coming towards Sarah, hitting them right in the middle of their heads. The monsters collapsed to the ground soon after.
"Erina, they were mine!" Sarah complained to my Marksman.
"Hehehe, sorry, Sarah. But you know there are no rules in war or in love. I’m going to be the one to receive Rick’s reward." Erina gave Sarah an innocent smile. "No hard feelings."
"Tch!" Sarah made a sound of indignation, but she had little time to worry about Erina. Behind her, a third bee was buzzing.
"Damn you!" Sarah turned towards the bee behind her, her sword imbued with flames, pulverizing the insect instantly.
With the monster burning in the background, Sarah’s expression was filled with fury, and it looked as if her beautiful blue eyes had been replaced by blood-red irises. "Fine by me! Bring it!"
Sarah then charged straight into the swarm of bees without a second thought. With her sword, Sarah cut down her enemies left and right, each attack carrying a ferocity I had never seen from her before.
She switched between normal attacks and skills with tremendous versatility, and wherever she passed, a trail of purple blood sprayed across the ground. The title of "Red Demon," which Camula had used earlier to refer to her, seemed to fit like a glove for the girl slicing apart the insects that came towards her.
"All this just because I said I would put up a reward?" I muttered in disbelief.
"Aaa, aaaah," Erina sighed. "Girls, it looks like it’s every woman for herself now. We all have the same goal, but only one of us can win the reward. So..."
Erina pointed her gun upwards, where a swarm of bees was coming from, far beyond Sarah’s reach. Erina hadn’t been joking when she said earlier that she had an advantage in this kind of competition. Her range was extremely long, and so was her firepower.
"Explosive Bullet!" Erina called upon her skill and then fired her long-range weapon.
I couldn’t see which bee she hit, but I was certain she had hit one of them because of the great explosion that came right after the shot.
"BOOOOOOOM!!" A fireball burst in the middle of the group of bees, and now they were falling to the ground, scorched and lifeless.
"5... 6... 7. Hey, Sarah, I’ve already taken down 9 in total! Hurry up or you’ll be left behind!"
"I should be the one saying that to you, Erina!" Sarah shouted, resting after the carnage and cleaning the insect blood from her sword with a stylish swing of her blade. "I’ve already killed 15 of these monsters!"
"Eeeeeh?" Erina complained. "Are you sure you’re not a monster yourself? Don’t think you’re anywhere close to being considered my rival!"
"You’re quite childish, Erina," Justine said to her, extending her palm towards the sky.
Justine’s body was surrounded by electricity with a golden glow. With coldness and calm in her voice, the Sage pronounced her skill, "Thunder."
Justine’s lightning shot out from her hand and struck the first bee, then quickly extended to the closest ones like a chain reaction.
"Your opponent isn’t only Sarah," Justine continued, speaking to her longtime friend. "By the way, I just took down 10 bees."
Erina snapped at this comment. "Are you trying to challenge me, Justine?"
"I can’t even call this a challenge, Erina," the black-haired girl replied with a sharp look.
The two stared each other down with death stares so intense that I could swear I saw electricity crackling between their eyes.
When a blur passed by me, I turned towards where Sarah should have been. She was about to attack a bee, a strike that would decapitate the monster without a shadow of a doubt. But something else happened. Sarah’s sword didn’t reach the insect, only the air.
"Huh?" Sarah was surprised, with a shocked and somewhat disgusted expression.
Camula had kicked the bee out of Sarah’s reach and used her claws to pierce through its head.
"Hey, Camula!" Sarah went up to her, so pissed that I thought she would pick a fight with her. "What’s your problem?"
"Excuse me?"
"Why did you steal it? It was my prey!" Sarah said, annoyed.
"Was it?" Camula seemed doubtful. "But I remember hearing Erina say there are no rules in this competition."
"W-What?"
"If that’s the case," Camula said with a gentle smile, her eyes closed, "there’s no such thing as your prey."
Sarah was a sore loser, and for her, who had already been provoked earlier, Camula’s smile must have seemed malicious, when in truth it was because of the other girl’s lack of tact.
Regardless of the reason, Sarah raised her hand against Camula. "You jellyhead!"
"Aaahn~" Camula let out an embarrassing moan when Sarah’s palm hit her breasts, making them bounce vigorously. "W-Why did you hit my boobs?!"
"Ah, sorry," Sarah said with a devilish smile. "They’re so big that I ended up hitting them by accident."
"What the hell kind of apology is that?! And you don’t look even a little sorry for doing it either!!"
"I have nothing to be sorry about," Sarah said with a snobbish look.
"If that’s the case..." Camula returned the slap, this time hitting Sarah’s breasts.
"Aaahn~" Sarah let out a very feminine little cry when she felt the slap on her mounds.
"Now we’re even," Camula said to the red-haired girl.
"You...!"
Sarah didn’t handle that well and started pulling Camula’s pink hair, while Camula retaliated by stretching her mouth. The two completely forgot about killing the bees and started fighting each other instead.
The only reason they weren’t attacked by the bees was because Erina was landing perfect headshots on the bees surrounding them. I didn’t know if it was an act of kindness from Erina, or if she was just taking advantage of the fact that the two of them were the perfect bait for the monsters, drawing attention with the commotion they were making.
"Should we help them?" Alicia asked me. She had stayed behind since she had no offensive power.
"No way. It’s a personal rule of mine not to stop a catfight," I said to her.
"Rick," Diane called to me, also standing close by. "I want to join the fight."
Diane seemed more confident in herself. It seemed that seeing the other Valkyries enter the battle and defeat the insects one by one had given her more confidence. I had already expected that none of them would have any difficulty against these bees.

The level of these bees was low compared to my girls, and their stats were so low that they could even be defeated by Camula, who had fewer points in Strength. The real problem was the Boss, who was at the top of the tree and was much stronger than its minions.
"Then I’ll go with you, Diane—Ouch!" I stopped talking when I received a pinch on my hand. Alicia puffed her cheeks in annoyance. I believe she felt that I was going to leave her there alone, and that was the last straw for her.
I crouched down on the ground and said to her, "Climb on, Alicia. That way, you’ll be able to support me and Diane."
And in an instant, the young woman’s sulky expression turned into a beautiful and adorable smile, as bright as the spring sun.
She approached me, and before climbing onto my back, Alicia whispered in my ear, "Don’t have dirty thoughts while I’m on your back. We are in the middle of a fight, okay?"
"Eh?" I let out a surprised sound, but Alicia didn’t give me time to react before mounting me.
"Don’t get aroused, okay? It’s not the best moment for it," Alicia said with flushed cheeks, but smiling.
’It would help a lot if you didn’t comment on that, Alicia!’ I thought inwardly, struggling to get my head straight.
Despite that, my princess was so close to me that I could feel her breathing, and her scent filled my nose. Even though we were in the middle of combat, it was hard for me not to have any dirty thoughts.
