Chapter 315: Married Romance (Extra 5)
Maxim Sinclair watched Summer Lowell’s back until she disappeared, then said, "Let’s go back to the company."
Unlike the last time she assumed a position, Summer first went straight to the top floor to meet with the branch company president.
The current head of management here was promoted directly by Noah, a long-standing employee, Victor Adler.
He was also part of Noah’s team.
Six months ago, after a major shake-up, Stellart’s absolute controlling stake was in Noah’s hands.
Now, Noah called all the shots at Stellart.
Victor Adler rose from behind his desk, came around, and smiled warmly, "Director Lowell, long time no see. The last time we met was at Stellart’s Christmas party in Leonia last year."
Summer extended her hand to shake his, "Hello, President Adler."
"No need to be so formal, please have a seat."
Victor Adler personally poured Summer a cup of tea, "President Norris told me not to rush you into starting at the company. After all, there aren’t any big projects recently that can’t be handled by the junior designers. You’ve been apart from your husband for a long time, so he wanted to give you more time off to nurture your relationship. Why are you here already?"
"He’s busy with work too, neither of us is idling. It’s boring staying at home, so I might as well come back to work."
"Haha, alright! If you need time off, just say the word. President Norris has already told me in advance that once you start working, you tend to forget about resting, so he told me not to exhaust his key team member."
"Thank you, President Norris and President Adler, for your consideration. It’s not that serious." Summer glanced at the time, "I should head to the design department."
"It’s indeed getting late. I’ll personally take you there," Victor Adler stood up, "The design department used to be on the sixth floor. It was renovated a year ago and moved to the seventh floor. You might not be familiar with it."
Of course, Summer thought he was worried she wouldn’t have authority, so he came to support her.
Arriving at the design department, Summer glanced around and recognized only three familiar faces. The rest were all strangers she hadn’t seen before.
Besides them, there was one particularly familiar person, her former Assistant Fletcher when she was a director.
After sending Victor Adler off and exchanging a few pleasantries, Summer told the designers to return to their workstations and then took Assistant Fletcher into her office, "Long time no see, but shouldn’t you be in Freland? When did you come back?"
Faye Fletcher held back her emotions, "I came back last month, just in time for Stellart’s call for designers. I also heard gossip about the big clean-up within Stellart and news about your participation in various competitions. I guessed you might return, so I applied."
"Haha, you know me too well!"
Summer reached out to hug her, "That’s great! We can keep working together. I’m so happy."
Faye heavily nodded and then cautiously probed Summer, "Director, this time... you will stay in the country, right? Here is great, with more prospects than Leonia. Your career will surely reach new heights here."
Thinking of the person at home, Summer’s face lit up with a smile. She nodded slightly, "I’m back for good this time. I’ll develop my career here. Most of my friends are in Stellarion."
And the person she loves the most is also in Stellarion.
She didn’t say the last part aloud but silently added it in her heart.
The first day of work went smoothly, and when Summer left the company in the afternoon, she saw a familiar car by the roadside.
She glanced around, didn’t see anyone from her department, opened the car door, and sat inside, beaming at the man inside who was on a phone call.
The car started and smoothly drove along the road.
Maxim Sinclair finished his call after passing three intersections.
"How was your first day at work? Did any of your former colleagues give you a hard time?" Maxim handed Summer a bottle of water.
"No, there were just three designers I’ve seen before and my former assistant. The first day went very smoothly. President Adler personally took me to the design department. How could anyone trouble me? I became a director through my own abilities, you know!"
"In that case, I’ll take you somewhere nice to eat and celebrate your beautiful comeback."
Only then did Summer realize the car wasn’t heading home, "Where are you taking me?"
Maxim just smiled without answering.
Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of a hot spring resort.
Summer looked around and asked Maxim, "Is your resort hosting some big event? Why is it decorated so grandly?"
"Yes, there’s a very important ceremony coming up."
Maxim took Summer’s hand and led her step by step inside.
When they reached the entrance, Summer had a hunch and stopped, "What are you up to?"
"You’ve had a long day. I’m taking you to soak in the hot springs first, and then we can eat," Maxim said, his expression hard to read, "What else could it be?"
"Nothing, I thought you were going to have a meeting here and brought me along," Summer changed the topic, not daring to voice her actual thoughts.
After a day’s work, Summer initially planned to soak for a bit longer, but Maxim kept insisting.
Unable to refuse, Summer soaked briefly before coming out to change clothes.
"The dining place I’m taking you to is quite formal, so wear this gown,"
Summer looked at the royal blue mermaid dress in Maxim’s hand and marveled, "It’s beautiful!"
"That’s why I bought it for you."
After changing, Summer stepped out to find Maxim’s figure gone.
Not understanding, the room suddenly fell into darkness.
What’s happening?
Summer was about to reach for her phone when Maxim appeared behind her without her noticing.
"What are you up to?"
Maxim covered her eyes with his hand, "Shh, come with me."
Summer finally guessed his purpose, her heart pounding with excitement.
Maxim led her to the master bedroom next door. Summer opened her eyes and stopped Maxim, who was about to kneel on one knee, "No, that’s too clichéd. I’ll say yes."
"How could you rush the process like this," Maxim chuckled, insisting on kneeling and taking Summer’s hand to put on the ring, "The ceremony must happen. I want to introduce you to everyone who knows me."
With tears in her eyes, Summer pulled him up, about to speak, but couldn’t suppress a wave of nausea and retched twice.
Maxim stood up in surprise, "What’s wrong? Could it be that you’re..."
"No way," Summer nervously met his eyes, then couldn’t hold back another retch, "Maybe, you could run to the pharmacy for me?"
"No... no pharmacy, I’ll take you to the hospital right away."
Maxim picked her up in his arms.
After a couple of steps, Summer wriggled free and jumped down, "I can walk myself. How would it look if you carried me like this?"
An hour later, Summer looked at Maxim, who had been staring at the report for five minutes without moving, "What’s the result?"
Maxim turned around, his voice trembling with excitement, "We’re... going to have a baby!"
