Chapter 52 Clever solution
Chapter 52 Clever solution
After Yunxi and the prince detained the servant and Marquis Zhao's confidant, they went to the study together to discuss how to deal with the matter.
In the study, the prince's face was so gloomy that it seemed as if water could drip out of it. He walked back and forth in front of the table with quick and hurried steps, rubbing his hands from time to time.
Yunxi sat on one side, her eyebrows tightly knitted together, her eyes fixed on the ground, her fingers tapping on the armrest of the chair.
"Your Highness, this Marquis Zhao is truly up to something evil. We must quickly come up with a safe and reliable solution, otherwise the Marquisate will be in danger."
Yunxi spoke softly, with anxiety in her voice.
The prince suddenly stopped, turned his head to look at Yunxi, and said loudly: "I have sent people to find out what Marquis Zhao has been doing recently. I think there will be news soon."
As he was speaking, a guard came running in, panting, "Your Highness, we've found it!
"Lord Zhao has been very close to several ministers in the court these days, and it seems he's thinking about something."
Yunxi sat up straight, her eyes wide, and she bit her lip. "Hmph, this Marquis Zhao definitely has bad intentions. I think he just wants to form a clique and unite everyone to deal with our mansion."
The prince was so angry that he threw his sleeves and said, "This old fox, does he really think I'm afraid of him?"
Yunxi frowned, her hands tightly gripping the armrests of the chair. "Your Highness, we can't let our guard down. We need to think carefully about how to deal with this."
The prince nodded, "Of course, I will not let him succeed."
Yunxi's eyes glared, "It seems he wants to unite everyone to deal with the Marquis' Mansion."
The prince snorted coldly, "He's dreaming. Yunxi, why don't we take advantage of his trick?"
Yunxi nodded slightly, with a puzzled look in her eyes, "What does the prince mean?"
The prince narrowed his eyes, his lips curled up slightly, revealing a hint of cunning. He leaned close to Yunxi's ear and said in a low voice, "Let's pretend that the Marquis' Mansion is in chaos because of this incident. Let that Marquis Zhao think that we have no power to resist. When he lets down his guard, we will catch him off guard."
After hearing this, Yunxi's eyes lit up and the corners of his mouth curled up. "This is a great plan, but we still need to be careful."
Yunxi and the prince immediately took action. The prince, wearing a slightly messy outfit and with his hair not as neat as before, walked around the mansion in a hurry, shouting loudly as he walked: "What should I do? What should I do?"
Yunxi had lost her usual dignity and composure. Her hair was casually tied up, and she looked a little panicked as she directed the servants to run around.
They first spread the rumor that the Marquis' Mansion was in disarray because of these things, and then deliberately created some chaotic scenes in the mansion.
One day, Yunxi was walking in the garden and saw several maids gathered together whispering.
"I heard that the Marquis' Mansion is going to be in trouble this time." A tall and thin maid frowned, her face full of worry.
"Yes, Lord Zhao is not someone you can easily mess with." Another round-faced maid pouted, her eyes full of fear.
Yunxi coughed deliberately, put her hands on her waist, glared and said, "Stop gossiping and get back to work!"
The maids were so frightened that their faces turned pale, and they quickly scattered and ran away like rabbits.
Meanwhile, the prince deliberately expressed his deep concern for the affairs of the Marquisate in the court. His brow furrowed, he sighed, his voice trembling slightly as he said, "Your Majesty, I'm afraid this Marquisate can no longer hold on."
This caused Lord Zhao and others to feel secretly proud.
Lord Zhao sat in his study, legs crossed, grinning smugly, "Hmph, let's see how long this mansion can last."
A few days later, at Lord Zhao’s residence.
"My Lord, the Marquis' Mansion is now vulnerable. Should we take advantage of the opportunity..." A counselor bent over and said cautiously.
Lord Zhao stroked his beard, squinted his eyes, and said slowly, "Don't act rashly. Let's observe for a few more days."
In the Marquis' Mansion, Yunxi and the Prince were closely watching Marquis Zhao's every move.
The prince sat on the chair, tapping the table with one hand, muttering, "What on earth is this old fox planning?"
Yunxi stood aside, twisting a handkerchief in her hand, and said, "Don't worry, my Lord. Let's wait."
A few days later, the prince and Yunxi still pretended to be in a state of panic as usual.
That day, the prince was in the courtyard, angry and slamming a teacup to the ground: "Get out of here, you useless bunch!"
Yunxi hurried over, grabbed the prince, and advised: "Prince, calm down. It's not good for your health to get angry."
Just then, a spy ran in and said breathlessly, "Your Majesty, there is news."
The prince and Yunxi looked at each other and understood that the critical moment had arrived.
"Your Highness, in my opinion, Lord Zhao will take action soon." Yunxi said.
The prince nodded, "Yes, we must be prepared."
The prince paced back and forth in his study, his brows knitted into a huge knot, and he kept muttering, "This Marquis Zhao is cruel and ruthless. We must be extremely vigilant to deal with him."
Yunxi stood aside, her hands tightly clutching the handkerchief, and said to the prince with a firm gaze, "Prince, I will definitely face this difficult time together with you."
The prince stopped and looked at Yunxi, his eyes full of trust: "Yunxi, with you by my side, I feel much more at ease."
Over the past two days, the entire mansion has been filled with a tense atmosphere. The servants have to walk very lightly, fearing that any noise might upset their masters.
The prince spent the entire day locked in his study, discussing countermeasures with several trusted advisors. Yunxi was also busy, arranging the affairs of the palace in an orderly manner and personally inspecting the security of various locations.
Finally, on the third day, Lord Zhao arrived at the gate of the mansion with a group of servants, all of them with stern brows and fierce expressions.
"Call out the people from your mansion!" Marquis Zhao shouted at the top of his lungs. The sound was like thunder, making people's ears buzz.
When the housekeeper of the Marquis's Mansion heard the shout, he was so frightened that his legs were shaking and he crawled to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, the butler's face was filled with panic, and he stammered, "Lord Zhao, what does this mean?"
Lord Zhao sneered, "Hmph, your mansion has committed many evil deeds. Today I am here to seek justice."
He glared with his triangular eyes, and the flesh on his face trembled.
At this time, Yunxi and the prince walked out side by side. Yunxi was wearing a light blue dress, her hair was neatly combed, but there was a subtle worry on her face.
She looked at Lord Zhao and said calmly, "Lord Zhao, I have no evidence whatsoever. It's not appropriate for you to mobilize such a large force."
Lord Zhao glared at Yunxi fiercely, "Little girl, stop trying to quibble. I already have evidence of your mansion's crimes."
The prince took a step forward, straightened his back, and said loudly, "Lord Zhao, please don't slander me.
This king is upright and honest, and I am not afraid of your slander."
Marquis Zhao waved his hand and shouted, "Search!" The servants behind him were like a group of hungry wolves, rushing into the mansion with their fangs and claws bared.
At this critical moment, a group of officers and soldiers suddenly rushed out from all directions, each holding a weapon and looking majestic. They surrounded Lord Zhao and his men in an instant.
"Lord Zhao, you are trying to frame the Marquis' Mansion. What crime should you be punished for?" An official walked out from behind the soldiers.
The official was dressed in official uniform and had a serious expression.
When Lord Zhao saw this, his face turned pale, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and he stammered, "What, what's going on?"
It turned out that Yunxi and the prince had already informed the emperor of Lord Zhao's conspiracy and asked the emperor to send officers and soldiers.
Yunxi looked at Lord Zhao and said, "Lord Zhao, you schemed so hard, but in the end, you still suffered the consequences."
Lord Zhao's face was ashen, his whole body limp like a puddle of mud, and he kept muttering, "Impossible, impossible..." His usually arrogant triangular eyes were now filled with fear and despair, and the fat on his face was drooping, without any of his former arrogance.
Lord Zhao was dragged away by the officers and soldiers like a dead dog. His miserable appearance made everyone in the mansion cheer.
The crisis was over, and the whole mansion was filled with joy. The servants were all grinning and laughing non-stop. "Miss, you and the prince are really amazing."
Xiao Cui jumped with excitement, clapping her hands constantly, her face flushed.
Yunxi smiled slightly, and that smile was like the warm sunshine in spring, which made people feel comfortable. "This is all thanks to the prince."
The prince looked at Yunxi, his eyes full of admiration and love, "It is because of your extraordinary intelligence that we can work together to resolve this crisis."
However, the story does not end there. Although Lord Zhao was arrested, his followers are still operating in secret.
That day, Yunxi was sorting clothes in the room when suddenly a dark shadow flashed past the window and a letter fell on the table.
Yunxi's heart skipped a beat and she carefully opened the letter. After reading it, her expression became serious.
Yunxi hurried to find the prince with the letter, "Prince, it seems we can't take it lightly."
The prince took the letter and read it carefully, his brow furrowed so tightly that it could kill a fly. "We need to find evidence against these people as soon as possible and catch them all in one fell swoop."
So Yunxi and the prince set out again on the road to find the truth. They changed into simple clothes and dressed like ordinary people.
Yunxi simply tied her hair up and inserted only a wooden hairpin, and the prince also put away his former nobleness.
They searched everywhere for information, not missing any clues. In a noisy restaurant, Yunxi overheard a conversation between two men.
"Have you heard about Lord Zhao?" a thin man said in a low voice, looking around from time to time.
"I heard about it, but his followers won't let it go." Another fat man took a sip of wine and wiped his mouth.
Yunxi and the prince looked at each other and approached quietly.
"They seem to be plotting something.
Yunxi and the prince looked at each other with frowns. The prince winked at Yunxi, and the two of them stood up calmly and slowly walked out of the restaurant.
Yunxi's small face was full of seriousness, while the prince pursed his lips tightly, his eyes revealing a firmness.
Along the way, Yunxi walked hurriedly, and the prince also strode quickly. Yunxi looked back from time to time, fearing that someone was following her.
"Your Highness, this matter may not be that simple." Yunxi said in a low voice.
The prince nodded slightly, "We must speed up and not let their conspiracy succeed."
Back at the mansion, the two of them didn't even bother to rest. They immediately gathered people and analyzed the clues they had collected. Yunxi sat at the table, paper in one hand and pen in the other, writing and drawing.
The prince paced back and forth, muttering, "These traitors must be severely punished."
Day passed, night fell, and the lights in the mansion were bright. Yunxi's eyes were red from staying up late, and the prince's clothes were a little messy.
But neither of them complained of being tired, and neither of them stopped.
Finally, in a corner, Yunxi found the key clue. She slammed the table and exclaimed, "Your Majesty, I found it!"
The prince came over quickly with a hint of surprise on his face.
After many days of hard work, they finally got evidence of the conspiracy of Zhao Houye's followers.
One night, Yunxi and the prince brought evidence to the palace to meet the emperor.
"Your Majesty, Lord Zhao's followers are plotting a rebellion. Please make the decision," said the prince.
The emperor was furious. "How dare these traitors be so bold!"
In the end, all of Marquis Zhao's followers were wiped out, and the Marquis's Mansion was completely free from the crisis.
Yunxi and the prince were also rewarded by the emperor for this.
The Marquis' Mansion returned to its former peace and prosperity.
