Prime Notebook Computer Review

The Compal HEL80 is mid-range notebook with good battery life and nice processor’s performance. The notebook come with solid build, stiff chassis and almost no flex on it. The screen is surround by small rubber squares which is make fit when the laptop closed. The notebook also look elegant with cooper trim surrounds the keyboard. Overall, the design is top class.

The screen is amazing. It’s a matte WSXGA+ with 1680 x 1050 native pixels resolution. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is very good. It’s really nice to watch movies or playing games on it. The horizontal viewing is great, and the vertical viewing although not that good, still satisfiyng.

The notebook powering by Intel Core Duo T2500 2.0 GHz, backed up by 1 GB of RAM and 256MB GeForce Go7600. The performance of the processor is great. It’s absolutely faster than Intel Pentium M. Doing multitasking or playing games, I found no problem. For storage, the HEL80 comes with 60 GB, 7200 rpm hard disk. This hard disk is quick and enough for save your data.

The heat is not big issue on the HEL80. The notebook is cool and the only warm area is the touchpad and the area to the left of it. But overall the notebook is cool. The fan also doing a good job to cooling down the notebook. It’s also quiet. The fan is not on all time, only work after several minutes or when the notebook doing hard tasks.

The keyboard although small still satisfying and easy to type on. There is some flex on the keyboard but it isn’t annoying. The touchpad is nice and made from smooth alumunium. It’s also easy to use. The buttons are also nice and between them there is the fingerprint reader. The fingerprint itself very useful and works well, just swipe your finger and then you can log on. This is really nice feature.

The notebook have two integrated speakers. They are not like most notebook’s speakers, have good sound and volume and nice little bass. They are very satisfied.
The notebook also have 1.3 megapixel video camera which is located above the screen.
The 9-Cell battery will give you more than 3.5 hours of life. It’s very good for notebook on it’s class.

Overall, the Compal HEL80 with solid build, great performance, long battery life and some nice features is a complete notebook. Most user will enjoy and satisfied with this notebook.
