Sony Vaio UX180PThe Vaio UX180P is a stylish UMPC from Sony which is will enchantment everyone who looking at it. Its strong and solid in design with 4.5″ screen and some buttons beside it. On the right side are the pointer, zoom in/out, built in microphone and power switch. On the left side are mouse buttons, wireless on/off and launcher buttons for Sony’s management console. And on the top of the screen, there are the speaker, biometric scanner and the camera. This wonderfull machine also come with QWERTY keyboard. The 4.5″ screen is very nice. Its perform pure inside and outside. The screen is a touch screen too, which is works well and sensitive.

The UX180P powering by Intel Core Solo U1400 1.2 GHz, backed up by 512 MB RAM. The performance is good and fast enough, but for heavy application it gets slow. The 30MB hard drive is sufficient, although for some user maybe they need more. But overall, for machine on this size, the UX180P give more power than most people excpected.

The QWERTY keyboard has 64 keys and revealed by sliding the display up. The keys is nice but there’s not enough feedback. The UX180P also comes with responsive and sensitive analog pointing stick. The touch screen and stylus works just like mouse and easy to use.

For wireless connection, the UX180P comes with Bluetooth, WiFi and WAN Cingular data Network. The Intel PRO 3945ABG Network 802.11a/b/g works good, fast and no lost connection. The UX180P’s biometric scanner is a nice features from Sony. Its easy to use, fast and works well. This machine also comes with 2 Interated digital cameras, in front and in the back. Its nice, but not good enough like other PDA’s camera. The picture quality taken from this camera is poor and there are no manual controls for this camera.

The UX180P’s battery is small and only give 2.5-3 hours under normal usage. Its not enough for most user. For the audio, this machine comes with mono speaker and also includes integrated microphone and jacks for headphones. The sound quality is average and you’ll need an internal speakers or a pairs of headphone for more great sound.

Verdict : The VAIO UX180P from Sony is a nice Tablet PC (Sony said it is a Micro PC) with good power and some nice features like camera and biometric scanner. The battery life is poor and its so expensive. But overall, the UX180P will satisfied everyone who not worrying about money.
