Prime Notebook Computer Review

Dell released the Inspiron 6400 as a light and portable notebook with great performance and reasonable price. The notebook build sturdy with silver color combine white on the bumper. Its not a great design, but still attractive for some people. The notebook’s screen is 15.4″ widescreen. Its a nice screen and ideal for watching movies. There’s only little light leakage at the bottom, but overall the screen is great. The notebook also have a respectable speakers with great sound quality, so you don’t need some external speakers to watching movies.

The notebook powering by Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83 GHz backed by 1 GB of DDR2 RAM and 120 GB hard disk for storage. The Core Duo processor is the best for multi tasking. Its fast and also great for playing games. Most user will love this notebook. For the system, the notebook come with Windows XP Media Center and some software like XP Recovery Disk and other programs.

The Inspiron 6400 have a nice keyboard. It’s a standart notebook keyboard with little flex, nice travel and some notebook’s buttons. Its nice to type on. The touchpad, below the keyboard also responsive with nice scroll feature. The notebook also come with standart ports like 4 USB 2.0 ports, S-Video and VGA port for external display and Ethernet port.

Some notebook have a problem with heat, but not the Inspiron 6400. Its get little warm after several hours, but its still comfortable. The fan isn’t noisy at all. It’s only kick in when doing some intensive tasks or after several hours, but it is not bothering. The battery life also great. I can get 4 hours under normal tasks. But its only 3.5 hours at average use.

Verdict : If you’re looking for a notebook with a nice widescreen and great performance backed by respectable battery lifetime and fair price, the Inspiron 6400 will satisfied you. It is not a gamer notebook option, but student and professional will contended with the Inspiron 6400.
