Acer Aspire 5102WLMi Notebook
1 Review
The Acer Aspire 5102WLMi is another Aspire version from Acer that powering with Core Duo processor. Its design like other Aspire models with silver painted and black trim on sides. The hinges are so tight and you’ll find theres no flex on the screen. The 15.4″ screen is very bright with only minor dead pixels. You’ll seen that this screen is nice and pleasant. The speakers, like other laptop speakers, produce sounds distant with almost no bass.
The AMD Turion Core Duo processor is fast enough, although not that fast like Intel Core Duo T2300. You can control the processor performance using utilities from Acer that included on this notebook. Overall, I am satisfied with the Aspire 5102 performance.
The keyboard, although comfortable, has a flex and little bit hard to type on it. The touchpad, which is includes a four way scroll buttons, is reponsive. This notebook is not a cool one. The palm rest, after several hours, getting warm although still comfortable. The fan is off at most time, but when running a hard application like playing games, the fan is on and constantly run. But the only sound you’ll hear only from the hard disk.
The 8-cell battery will give you 2 hours, according to Acer. But, by setting the CPU speed to medium, it can get 4 hours or more. But, its about 2.5-3.5 hours at avearage. I believe its more than enough for most users. Plus, the 802.11a/b/g wireless is amazing one. Its work well and fast. I found no trouble when use it.
The Acer Aspire 5102WLMi specs are :
Processor : AMD Turion64 1.6 GHz x2
Screen : 15.4″ WXGA CrystalBrite
Graphics : ATI Radeon xPress 1100

Hard Drive : 120 GB 4200 rpm
Optical Drive : DVD RW Dual Layer
Battery : 8-cell

Verdict : The Aspire 5102 comes with Core Duo processor and still at fair price. The screen is great and its also included an integrated webcam. The battery life is good, has a great screen and it runs cool. No doubt, this notebook is another good Aspire version for college students or people with limited budget looking for notebook with plenty power.
